Rice Weevil Infestations
Rice Weevils are a stored product pest primarily focused on “whole” grains, rice, seeds, nuts and legumes. You normally get weevil problems because you brought home and stored some type of grain kernel that a female weevil had already laid its eggs inside of. Females can fly and also lay up approximately 300 eggs in their two-year lifespan. The eggs taking months to hatch, so they are normally missed because you use the food stuffs before they have had time to hatch. As a result, issues arise when these items are stored for extended periods and not keept in plastic or glass containers.
